Most visitors to the Corpus Christi HawkWatch have their eyes to the sky in hopes of spotting a kettle of thousands of Broad-winged Hawks, but over two dozen raptor species can be seen at the site, including this marvelous marsh bird. Pictured here in its adult male plumage—often referred to by birders as the "Grey Ghost"—the Northern Harrier is one of only raptor species in North America to be sexually dimorphic by plumage. Its cool coloring—a slate grey, almost blue color—is in stark contrast to the high heat seen at HWI's southernmost fall migration site.
